Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
The Federal Trade Commission is an independent agency of the United States government, established in 1914 by the Federal Trade Commission Act. Its principal mission is the promotion of consumer protection and the elimination and prevention of anti-competitive business practices.
"Made in America" Claims
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is charged with preventing deception and unfairness in the marketplace. The FTC Act gives the Commission the power to bring law enforcement actions against false or misleading claims that a product is of U.S. origin. Traditionally, the Commission has required that a product advertised as Made in USA be "all or virtually all" made in the United States.
Please contact Davidson Law Group, P.A. for guidance on "Made in America" claims. Additionally, the FTC created an informative guidance document: "Complying with the Made in USA Standard."
