Freight Forwarder Fined $10,000 for Transacting Customs Business without a Customs Broker License
Freight Forwarders, BE AWARE! In United States (Plaintiff) v. Freight Forwarder International, Inc. (Defendant), the Defendant paid duties directly to U.S. Customs on behalf of its importing clients, and sought reimbursement in its invoice to the client. Customs fined the Defendant $10,000 for transacting customs business without a license. The Defendant failed to pay the $10,000 penalty. The U.S. Court of International Trade granted the Plaintiff's Motion for Default Judgment for a $10,000 penalty along with post-judgment interest and costs.
